Case Competition: Patagonia
Graduate case competition to foster resolution to issue of consumer textile waste.
Preparation Highlights:
National graduate case competition to propose resolution for 2019 case topic: “Waste not, want not: Eliminating Patagonia’s pre and post consumer textile waste.”
Extensively researched industry, pulled working knowledge from role with Vans, and enrolled in courses on sustainability in apparel.
Facilitated interviews with thought leaders in sustainability, had in-person visits to local cut and sew factories, and worked under mentorship of Li & Fung board member.
Project Highlights:
Developed an end-to-end solution for textile waste across the apparel industry (Photos blurred for information preservation).
Proposed framework for two-sided virtual marketplace to manage fabric overages and dead stock that proved financially sound.
Formal proposed delivered to Patagonia executive team. Team members: Fernando de Souza, Brittany Ouyang, Gian Multari, and Ivan Almeida.
